The Small Business Wife: Driven in Chaos

Have you ever has that moment where you sat back for a second, took a deep breath, exhaled, and took a drink of coffee… all things were silent. For that split second all is calm in the world..

Hi, I’m Amanda and I am a Small Business wife. what that means is that the moment I described above have been few and far between, unless of course I was up long before my two children and my husband. I find that the past few years of my life have been full of diaper changes, saying “No No” a billion times, cleaning up my house… Early mornings and late evenings. Aside from the Chaos of Motherhood. Darby, my husband of 5 years, and I have launched 4 different businesses and have sold 1 for a profit. So when I say that my life is a little chaotic, what I mean to say is that I set an alarm every other day on my phone to remind myself to get up early to take a shower. Real Life people.

I truly believe that there are people who were born and raised Small Business Owners, Darby is one of those people. He is a 4th generation entrepreneur and it is rather odd if you are not an entrepreneur in his family. He is a visionary, a go getter, a salesman to the core. He believes at the core of who he is, that money is out there to be made and we get to be stewards of the vision and the passion God has given to us by chasing after it… And once it’s made.. doing good with what we have been blessed with.

I on the other hand, feel like until about 6 months ago, was a chaotic hot mess. Small Business Owning did not come natural to me. Security and Financial Stability did. I fought hard. But not always alongside my husband, most of the time against him. I fought for a life that I expected to have instead of embracing the beauty of what we have.

GRATITUDE will save your marriage and your business. Just saying.

Here is what I have found these last four years, is that you don’t just wake up one day an entrepreneur. In fact, in this life, the good things in life are found on the other side of struggle… on the other side of Perseverance and Hardship. You come out on the other side a new person, confident in your abilities to weather the next level. The power to dig deep within your heart and to find Drive and passion for each season of your life.. will be the thing that Brings you out on the other side..

Finding the Drive in the middle of the Chaotic Seasons will push you out of Striving into a season of Thriving. I have felt a tug on my heart for a long time to create this space for Small Business Owning Wives. A Place where you feel you are seen and heard. A place where we can help create a space for Thriving. There is power in community and in communication.

I wish for newer Wives on this journey I had a how to book. Where I Could prepare you for each part of this journey. But here is what I love about this journey.. It’s your own. There is so much inside you that is ready to come alive. You will have to push past the pile of bills that will get stacked up on your table, you will have to push past sharing a car with your spouse. You will have to fight for your marriage as you fight with your spouse. You will have to fight for the purpose and the calling that is deep within your spirit. Know.. this… You my friend… Take Heart. Breakthrough is yours. Thriving is yours. Light the Fire. Ignite it. Get alongside community that believes in your marriage and your desire to succeed as much as you. And know. I am excited for you. Because on the other side of each battle there is victory. There is Beauty in the Chaos. There is freedom in the life we get to live. A life where Gratitude and Hope becomes your weapons.. and I want you to know… YOU CAN DO IT. You have it within you and I can not wait to share in our journey…. in my journey…. of Embracing Chaos, and living for the fleeting moments of my first sip of coffee. Knowing that today is ours for the taking.
